Changelog 6 December 2017

We worked hard on our services again last month. And with good results! We implemented a number of useful updates, which will make websites with Savvii run even faster.

From now on, all websites hosted by Savvii will utilise the HTTP/2 protocol. Check it out yourself on Websites on our platform have thus become considerably faster. The big advantage of HTTP/2 is that requests to the server are now processed simultaneously rather than consecutively. This means a quicker loading time!

PHP 7.2

PHP 7.2 is now available on our platform. PHP 7.2 is 13% faster than PHP 7.1 and 20% faster than PHP 7.0. A good reason to switch your website to PHP 7.2! You can do this with the switch on our control panel. But make sure your plugins are up-to-date and that you are using the latest version of WordPress.

Varnish 5

All websites hosted by Savvii recently started using Varnish 5, the new version of Varnish. This version processes requests more quickly. Another big advantage is that visitors need no longer wait once a newer version of the cache needs to be built up. Varnish 5 serves the last cashed version and then makes a new cache available for the next visitor if required. Varnish 5 also gives us more extensive monitoring capabilities, which enables our support desk to assist you with Varnish-related queries in a more focused way.

Email limits increased

We have increased our limits for outgoing emails. Your website can now send a maximum of 60 emails per minute and 1000 emails per hour. By setting a limit on the number of outgoing emails, we prevent your mail being wrongly marked as spam. The new limits give you more room to play with, but we still protect your (company’s) reputation and the outgoing mail servers.

New WordPress deals

We have added two premium plugins to our WordPress deals: Multilingual Press and BackWPup. As a Savvii client, you receive a 15% discount on both plugins by using the code in the control panel.

Warpdrive - Savvii WordPress plugin

We carried out a great deal of work in recent weeks to convert our own Savvii must-use plugin 'Warpdrive' into a standard WordPress plugin. We have thus made the plugin open-source. This process will be completed very soon. Want to be the first to know when it has been completed? Let us know!

We don’t share delivery dates. Priorities and changing circumstances demand us to be flexible and we know that nothing is more frustrating than missed delivery dates. That doesn’t mean we don’t value your input. On the contrary! Discuss with us about what we need to deliver by posting your comments below.

Of course we’d love to develop even faster. That’s why we’re actively looking for back-end developers. Are you a developer of do you know someone? We’d love to hear from you!
