Walkthrough for trials

Placing a copy of your website on the trial server is simple and free with the use of our Savvii WP Migrate plugin. Placing a copy of your website on our trial servers has NO consequences for your live website. It will stay active on your current host. 

The migration will run on the background, and will take -depening on the disk size - 15 minutes to several hours. No time to the start the migration yourself? We offer a migrate service for a small fee. Contact support for more information.

The migration has a few simple steps. Before you can proceed however you'll need to check if you have the following items needed for the migration: 


  • You have a trial server ready and have received the email with server credentials. 

  • You have the SFTP-Hostname, SFTP-Username and SFTP-Password. You find these in either the e-mail received or in the admin.savvii.com panel.

  • The Savvii WP Migrate plugin is installed on your current live website. You can install the plugin through the 'Add New Plugin' Function and search for 'Savvii'. Or download the plugin directly from WordPress.com. 

  • On the live website the plugins and theme's are update to their latest version. 



Step 1 - Copy

After installing the migrate plugin you'll find the Savvii Migrate Plugin in the left collumn. You'll have to fill in the following information:

  • Your emailadress. You'll receive confirmation of the start and finish of the migration. 

  • The server URL. This is the same as the hostname only with https:// in front of it. 

  • The hostname. This is server url given to you per e-mail or available at admin.savvii.com. 

  • The sFTP-Username. 

  • Het sFTP-Password.


    You can now start the migration. The migration will run in the background. You can lock and leave the computer if neccassery.
    If any problems arise during the migration connect support for help. 



Step 2 – Benchmark
When the migration is finshed you'll be able to visit the website on the server url and be able to run benchmark tests. You can use the following tools to analyze the performance Webpagetest.org, GTMetrix, Google Pagespeed Insight or Pingdom.
Contact your accountmanager to get a free analyses of your websites performance. 


Stap 3 – Optimizing 
A standard adjustment on the VPS servers is configuring Memcache with the use of either W3TC or Memcache Redux.
Depening on the results of the benchmark there might be other optimizations available. Your accountmanager will help you get the best out of our servers. Be sure to use that expertise!

Stap 4 – Order
If the performance and service is as expected then your account manager will give you an advice on what package/server fits your website(s) needs.
