A short background
To improve stability, customizability, security and monitoring capabilities, we have decided to move all of our shared servers to a different host located in the EU. Our current shared host resides in the United Kingdom and due to the political decision known as "Brexit", we have decided to pull all of our customers' data to a EU-based hosting provider.
What is going to happen
We are going to migrate all data on our shared platforms to other servers in the EU. We will take care to copy all data, like databases, files, SSL certificates, configurations, et cetera to the new hosts. This will all happen during our regular maintenance window in the middle of the night. To make sure that your websites stay accessible once the move is done, we will set up an intermediate server which will redirect all traffic from the old location to the new location. This intermediate server will, however, not stay indefinitely, which is where we need your help.
What Savvii asks of you
We are going to inform you via e-mail about this migration and when it is going to happen. We will e-mail you at least thrice, once as a general announcement and once a few days / hours before the migration will take place. After the migration we will send you an e-mail with the new IP address of the server. We will need you to change the DNS of your domain to that IP address. Again, your website will keep working, as we will reroute all traffic to the new hosts, but that is not a permanent solution and will be disabled 1 to 2 months after the migrations.
Why won't Savvii change the DNS for me?
We would very much like to, but we can't. Your DNS is managed from the party that manages your domains' nameservers, probably the company where you have registered your domain name. To change the DNS of your domain, you will have to log in to the control panel of your domain provider and change the DNS from there. As there are hundreds of different variations of control panels and we have no idea how every one of those work, we can not assist you with this step.
