One of the benefits of hosting your site at Savvii is that we can keep your WordPress site up to date by updating your WordPress core and plugins. This feature is very important as it significantly improves the security of your site. Sites with outdated plugins are an easier target for attackers than a site that is completely up to date. That's why we always recommend that you let us update your core and plugins.
Enable automatic updates
The automatic updates can be enabled in our admin portal at admin.savvii.com. For the site in question, click on the tab "Access". There you can then enable the core and plugin updates separately using the buttons shown below:
Working method automatic updates
We automatically check every morning every site for updates where the button above has been activated. Before we perform the updates, we first check for the HTTP status code 200 and make a back-up of your site. Only when a correct back-up has been made, we will perform the available updates. Through years of experience in automatically updating plugins on our platform, we know that this almost always goes well. In order to also prevent the few crashes that occur, we check your site again for the HTTP statuscode after the update. If things go wrong, we immediately restore the back-up we just made and notify the customer.
Updating the WordPress core does not happen as soon as the update is released. We will wait a few weeks for this, so that any bugs can be filtered out.
Is everything really updated?
We try to update as many plugins as possible. If for some reason we don't succeed in updating a plugin, we try this two more times before we put the plugin on a 'plugin-update blacklist' specifically for that one site. This list can be found in the /log folder via sFTP or ssh. There are several reasons why a plugin can end up on this list:
See the list below of plugins that cannot be updated by us. (Please note that this list is not necessarily complete, there may be other plugins that cannot be updated by us due to the above mentioned reasons).
